"Smena and Artwin Gallery present a solo exhibition, Norms of Insolation, by Dima Rebus, an artist from the gallery who hails from Naberezhnye Chelny.

"Norms of Insolation" is the artist's first solo exhibition in his home region. The exhibition will feature works from several series created by the artist over the last 7 years. This project will present both new works by the artist and retrospective series, allowing us to trace the evolution of the semantic elements of the universe created by the artist.

Dima Rebus is known for his detailed watercolour works in an unusually large format for this technique. Rebus develops in his work the themes of adaptive norms and the characteristic evolution of their parameters for modern society. In the world he constructs, the alarmist mood is replaced by a more philosophical detachment which accepts isolation, or disappearance, as natural steps in the cycle of being. Carefully constructed compositions refer back to the artist's fascination with computer gamification culture and early experiences of digital interactivity.

The focus of the exhibition at Smena is on the series Insolation, which tells the story of the search for calibrated "parameters" for life. Rebus's detailed works in the exhibition combine the aesthetics of abstract, animated and realistic techniques. The works are made in one of the most time-consuming and demanding watercolour techniques, using chemical solutions developed by the artist.

"Norms of Insolation is a multi-part project about art 'this side and that side of the window', extending beyond the walls of the art institution. In addition to the exposition inside the exhibition space, a public art project is planned: the installation of light installations on the Smena building.
